We listened to My Side of the Mountain and Swiss Family Robinson on road trips over the summer. Although I was a voracious reader as a child, I don’t remember reading these books. It may have somewhat to do with my feminine nature and not being up for getting about all the animal deaths in Swiss Family Robinson. But my 5 year old son LOVED the books and we certainly are going to continue a steady diet of good books for boys. I’ll have to either have my husband read with my sons (which he already does regularly) or push my self through the hard bits, which would be worth it for my kids.
